Saving Files

Asked by Brompting

I have a Windows XP machine and now I have Ubuntu on the same machine. Of course separate partitions.
If I am writing some text in OpenOffice and trying to save it to my Work-artition (defined in Windows XP NTFS formatted it failed. Got the message "Failed to save file So-and-so". Everything is OK if I save the file on a USB Memeory-Stick.

Can anybody help? Brompting

Probably you don't have permission because you didn't configured it right at /etc/fstab
Search for the line corresponding to your partition on that file and add to the options part uid=id of your user and gid=id of the group. You can find the values for these ids at /etc/passwd. Check also the umask, fmask or dmask options which are the ones which assign permissions.

Can you help with this problem?
