Force Ubuntu 9.04 to recognise CD/DVD Player

Asked by John Spicer

How can I get Ubuntu to automatically play a cd/dvd and display the desktop icon? Using either Rhythmbox or CD Player or Amrok or Realplayer ?

Have ticked the " automatic play" box in CD Player preferences.

It won't play automatically in any of the above, but will start if I press the "play" button on the player hardware.

To get to Nautilus just open any fodler, such as your Documents folder. There. The file-browser showing the contents of that folder is "Nautilus" ;)
