ripping dvd to windows compatible

Asked by drew gilmore

I need to rip a DVD and then convert the video files so that I can run them in Windows and Window office programs. Does anyone know the proper way to go about this?

Thanks in advance.

I dont know much about playing stuff in windows office but id presume it would have to be a wma file. You cant do that without a bit of work. Try rip it as an ogg using "Thoggen" and then convert it to wma using "winff".

Hope that helps

I think formats like "avi" and "wmv" also work in Windows, really most Windows formats work in linux but our safer formats such as "ogg" really don't. "wma" seems a good choice :) Can't brasero do this easily, and i heard of something called DeVeDe or something?

Can you help with this problem?
