how do I mount a disk? (VMware Tools CD on Ubuntu in MacOSX)

Asked by gobroin

I am attempting to install VMware Tools into Ubuntu running under VMware Fusion on a MacBook Pro and am getting nowhere. I find various suggestions online and VMware itself has a tutorial which simply does not work. As a newbie, I do not understand one instruction right at the start of the process: mount the VMware Tools virtual CD-ROM image and change to a working directory (for example, /temp)

Thanks for your question.

I don't know VMware Fusion, but I do know VMware Player and Server. Both have a menu entrie called "Install VMware tools". If you call that entrie while running Ubuntu inside the VM, the Tools disc will just mount itself and place a icon on the ubuntu desktop.

Can you help with this problem?
