will not mount usb drives, solution?

Asked by rbielert

I have three USB HDs and cannot get Ubuntu to mount any of them. I am using the live version as I am just trying to recover files from these drives which were passworded XP Pro drives. I just get a message that it is unable to mount location can't mount file. I have used linux before but it has been a while and I have never used Ubuntu What do I need to do to mount these drives? Any help would be appreciated. Two of the USB drives have files the third drive is a brand new 1T drive that is just being used for storage and has nothing on it but it was formatted ntfs since I was running windows on the computer I am using.

Hi
I would say that XP did not shut down properly, if you can reboot it and shut it down. try it in safe mode, sorry I'm can't help you any more then that.
