~/.nautilus & ~/.thumbnails.. many files. Can I delete?

Asked by Mark Garrow

In ~/.nautilus I have found many files dating back 1.5 years just taking up space.. are they necessary? Can I delete them safely? There is also a directory called metafiles in .nautilus.. same question, can I delete that safely?

~/.thumbnails - Same file question.

Mark,

i can give you nop suggestion about the .nautilus/ files ...
the files in ~./thumbnails/ are files used to give a preview of all picture-files while browsing your system...
After deleting these files during the next browse-action these previews are re-created, so take a small while... You can delete all FILES in the subdirectories within ~/.thumbnails/ but DO NOT delete directories!

Hopefully some one else can tell us more about the files in ~/.nautilus/ ...

It seems like those are all cache files and thus can be deleted.
