I need to recover my mp3 files from the "lost+found" folder but cant access the folder as i 'do not have permissions neccesary'

Asked by petersean

i have forgotten my password and username to logon to my ubuntu os
i am currently running the live cd as an OS
i need to recover my mp3 files from the "lost+found" folder
i assume the files created within the 'lost+found folder are from the previous installation.
i cant access the folder as i 'do not have permissions neccesary'
is it possible to change or remove permissions ?
if so ... how. i do not have any knowledge about this os.

Open a Terminal and type: gksu nautilus
Then right click over the "lost+found" folder and select Properties.
Once the Properties windows was opened select the Permissions tab and do the job.
Hope this help, please let me know if this solves your problem.

I have a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X Lion. I can't boot into OS because of Kernel corruption. I used a Ubuntu Live CD to access the HDD. Is the a way to remove permissions on directories or folders on my Macintosh HD from the Ubuntu Live CD? I really need to backup my data. Thanks
