Thanks for the question.

It is probably in /tmp. The best way to store those files ist to use "File -> Save as" in file roller after the download to save the file in the directory of your choice.

I hope this helps.

File Roller is a software that can deal with files that contain collections of files and/or are compressed, i.e. zip, tar.gz, .iso etc.

if the file is not in the /tmp directory, it was probably already deleted.

If you choose Desktop, it gets automatically saved into your Desktop.

I hope this helps.

Another comment. The files in the /tmp directory usually do not have the original names, but some random one. It probably helps to look for a file that has the size you expect. An .iso file is usually quite big.

but why does it use a random name to label the file in file-roller....

Usually tmp-files are given random names in order to prevent overwriting or problems with permissions and so on.

ok thanks txwilkinger....still does not make sense why when you download a file it deflauts to file roller and then it is given a random name. I will take your advice: "files ist to use "File -> Save as" in file roller after the download" I did not see that option after the download...but I will take your word....and keep it mind for the next download. thanks again!!.
