Asked by Hattie Read

I ´m trying to install and works the scanner, then The machine itself is capable to print but when I try to print a document from the computer still connecting to device forever and never print, what can I do? I´m working with Mac Osx10.4
Estoy instalando la impresora y consigo que funcione el scanner, también imprime documentos escaneados o si le conecto algo pero si intento imprimir algo desde el ordenador, no lo consigo, se queda conectando y no imprime nada, que puedo hacer? Uso mac Osx10.4

Hi,

Please try installing the Epson Stylus DX4800 drivers using the Add printer wizard in Ubuntu.
The Epson Stylus DX4800 drivers are included by default in Ubuntu.

I heard that they should also work for the SX200 printer.

Regards,

Mark

Thank you for your reply. However, I don't know how to get to the
printer wizard in Ubuntu. Can you please help again?

Hattie

Hi,

You can install a printer in Ubuntu by using the printer wizard (System -> Administration -> Printers then double-click on "Add new printer" icon when the "Printers" window opens).

Mark

For german speaking people, see ubuntuusers.de Wiki: http://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Epson_NX-_und_SX-Series

For others, I'll give a quick and dirty for using this device:

1. Get the deb package from http://www.avasys.jp/lx-bin2/linux_e/spc/DL1.do (choose your model and ubuntu version!)
2. Install that package
3. Run sudo /etc/init.d/pipslited start to start the pipslite daemon
4. Run sudo pipslite-install to generate the PPD files for CUPS to use your device
5. Add your printer using the standard "add printer" dialog. usb:// interface is preferred due the fact that the pipslitelp:// interface doesn't support scanning!

I dunno wether you can now remove the pipslite stuff (I think so: you've got the ppd, that's all you need). Please let me know if it worked and please try if it works without having pipslite installed as well.

You need the pipslite package installed. The PPD file you got from pipslite-install uses the pipslite-wrapper from the same package.

If you don't plan on using the pipslitestm utility _and_ you used the usb::// interface, then you can safely disable the pipslited daemon.
