showing shortcuts to applications

Asked by caesarn

I just installed Linux Mint. How do I create shortcuts to applications that will show on my desktop? For example, presently I cannot find Firefox when I want to get on the internet, or Thunderbird when I want to check my email.

In addition, how do I make Linux to recognize my server, Shaw cable?

Although based on Ubuntu, Mint is a derivative, so I would suggest asking for support in the Mint forums: http://www.linuxmint.com/forum/

Can you help with this problem?
