shutdown and restart icon

i cant see the shutdown and restart icon on the upper right part of my computer the only listing i can see are switch user, log out, hibernate, lock screen and suspend. So whenever i need to turn off my computer i do it manually. please help me. thanks!

Reconfigure gdm and try:

This can be done by running

sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm

here's want i did, i typed sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm on terminal and there's a message * Reloading GNOME Display Manager configuration... * Changes will take effect when all current X sessions have ended.
                                                                         [ OK ]

and then i tried to manually log off my computer and then i check it but still there is no icon for shutdown and restart. please tell me the step by step on how to fix this problem. thanks!

One possibility -

Menu: System > Administration > Login Window

In the "Local" tab of "Login Window Preferences", make sure that "Menu Bar: Show Actions menu" is checked.
