How can I find the path to a file found by search

Asked by ralphl

When I do a search under Nautilus it lists the files found (list view) with date modified, type, size, etc. However, there is no column for "path to file". The only way I know to determine the path is to right click and select properties for the file. This is very time consuming when trying to examine a number of files. Is there some other way to find the path? Best would be a column for "path". Another way might be to hold the mouse over the file name, and have the path displayed. Is any feature like this available?

Thanks

Dont know if you can by launching nautilus, but if you go places-search for files, the results list should have a folder column displayed with the path in it.

Hi!

You can use the Tracker Search Tool. In this application appears like a magnifying len in the Notification Area. Here, if you put the name of the archive, it will show you the path and files and other specific data, for Example:

If you look for an image, it would find it and if you click on it, Tracker Search Tool will search:

-Dimensions
-Orientation
-Focal length
-Date Taken (if it was a phto)
And other things.

Its an excellent tool for search. Use it.

Bye!
