creating MS style shortcuts for my mail logon.

Asked by Bruce Newman

Hi,
I wish to move over to the Ubuntu OS instead of the MS OS. To start with I wish to create MS style shortcuts to such services as my email service at http://mail.landshut.org/src/webmail.php
on the desktop. Later I wish to create similar shortcuts for my FTP software, but am using MS-FTP. Is there a similar freeware for UBUNTU?
Many thanks for any help.
Best wishes, Bruce Newman.

You can create a shortcut on the desktop to a website by visiting the site then dragging the favicon (the little icon to the left of 'http' in the url bar) onto the desktop.

A nice ftp client for ubuntu is gftp which can be installed via the synaptic package manager.

Can you help with this problem?
