Trying to move files to external Hard drive

I am new to this, Im on Windows 10 with Ubuntu 12.04. I am wanting to move pics and files to my external HD. I am going by the directions in the help section Right clicking on the file, selected send to, the send to window appears and I select Removable disks and shares, the send to box is grey"d out so I cannot select where to send.
Your help would be greatly appreciated

What file system is the external drive using?

When I first added the hard drive it was set up on windows 10
