installing Ubuntu 14.04 64bit

I am trying to install Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit system on a 1 TB hard drive formatted in NTFS but when I start the format I get a message that states :

No Root File System Defined Please Correct this from the Partitiong Menu. How do I get to the Partitioning Menu and What do I Change? Please Help.

Linux cannot install to NTFS.

Yes I was going to use the whole 1 TB. I will reformatt the Disk to FAT32. WIll Linux install to FAT32?

No, neither NTFS and FAT support the features required to run Ubuntu Linux. Also they have a pure performance.
Ubutu Linux by default uses "the extended file system" (ext) in several version. The recent version ist ext4 spoken "the forth extended file sytem. There are others availble. But Windows file systems are not an option.
