Search dash for screen saver. I believe it is under system settings in the cog menu.

Thanks for your reply

I have searched Dash for "screen saver" and "screensaver" with no results. There is no " cog" menu under settings that I can see, what is it supposed to do or is short for ?

sudo apt-get --purge remove gnome-screensaver
sudo apt-get install xscreensaver

Reboot to test. You can set the screensaver settings by running :

xscreensaver-demo

Thanks

Everything seems to work as advertised and my Linux machine is currently displaying a slide show for me.
