Before you try to reinstall everything, you can try to reinstall everything that belongs to the Ubuntu default installation. To do so, open the Terminal application (or press Ctrl + Alt + T) and type at the prompt (exactly):

sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop

Press Enter, and type your password (there will be nothing shown, no ****), hit Enter again and when asked if you want to install hit enter yet again. If there is some error, mark the output with the mouse, click in the menu Edit → Copy and paste the text into your answer.

just install xfburn using apt-get and you can burn with that. Why are you deleting random files if you are not fluent with your operating system?

Can you help with this problem?
