Howcan you download the manger?

I keep on clicking on download manger and nothing happens ,i want to update to 12 .1

Do you mean Update manager?

If yes and you are upgrading from a supported release then you need to make sure its not set to LTS releases only.

Run update manager and press the settings button (should be near the bottom). A new window opens "Software Sources", select the "Updates" tab and change "Notify me of a new Ubuntu version" to "For any new version".

If you have an unsupported version of Ubuntu I would recommend you backup your personal data, do a clean install overwriting the existing Ubuntu. You can then copy your personal data back from the backup.

If you don't mean Update manager then we need more information. What version of Ubuntu do you have and what exactly are you trying to do?

Can you please give us details rather than have us guess. What version of Ubuntu are you running? What are you trying to do...etc
