edit a photo to reduce file size

how to reduce the file size of a photo for emailing to others.
The photo is 2.4mb.

There are lots of ways to reduce photo size for example reduce resolution, colour depth convert to a different type e.g from tif to jpg

You can change file type, resolution, etc. with any decent picture editing software such as GIMP which if not installed already can be found in the software centre.

Could use imagemagick too, it has the command 'convert' in it which can help manage images.

I cchose to go to GIMP.
My son also uses that.
