How to Display Files as a list of details.

Asked by Rohan Viljoen

Running Ubuntu 12.4.1 LTE and I'm trying to figure out how to display files in a folder view as a detailed listing rather than as an icon and filename. I see there are options to zoom and options to sort by, but do not see any option to display files in a list format. I realise I could open a console session and do the standard ls -la but that kind of defeats the purpose of the Graphical Interface. Hope someone can advise.

Cheers.

When the folder is selected, you have a menu at the top of the screen, under View, select List.

Is there a way to make the display format permanent, like changing the folder settings in windows?
