Nautilus does not resolve when connecting to server

Asked by Howard Williams

In 12.04, Nautilus "Connect to Server" does not resolve the connection with a FQDN or using the IP address. This same error also appears when launching Nautilus via the terminal using the remote ftp location.

I am able to connect using the terminal using tradition ftp.

Thank you in advance,
Howard

If you add the name to IP conversion in /etc/hosts does it work? Can you get connected using gftp / filezilla?

The addition to the host file did not work.

Yes, I can connect with Filezilla.

I can resolve to the host using nslookup and ping the host, so we are good there. However, I am not sure why this occurs when the ip address is used.

Is it ok with other file managers like pcmanfm

I installed pcmanfm and it does not resolve to either the FQDN or ip address.

Sounds like a bug, if other apps can access it then I'd say it was some form of bug with gvfs.

Can you help with this problem?
