A suggestion on Home Folder

Asked by Benjamin Tan Chun Yung

I love the home folder which has new tab, or can view folders in new tab (like Firefox and Chrome), but I think this can be improve more.

My suggestion: Place a 'add a new tab' button like Firefox and Chrome so we can open new tab easily. I like to drag and drop copy files to different folders in different Media and my pendrive. (Example: I'm currently view my document folder. I knew one of my document is at another partition of my hard disk, I need to rightclick my other partition and click 'open in new tab'. I'm thinking of opening a new tab then open my other partition like I normally do in Firefox)

Also, if we inserted our removable media, I like it to open as a new tab in my home folder (if I already did) rather than open a new window. Could that possibly be done currently? If not, can we maybe in the future, have an option to choose whether we want to open a new window or open in new tab instead?

I usually maximized my home folder, and I use tab (which is convenient for me) than open a new window.

There is: ctrl+t
or
file -> new tab
or when there are already three tabs open, right click on one to add another one.

If folders shouldn't open in their own window it can be disabled: edit -> preferences -> behaviour

Settings about specific file actions are in system-settings - system - details defined.

Sam, thanks for replying.

However, there's still one problem. Everytime I plug in a pendrive or removable media, it pops up a new window even when I'm viewing my files from my hard disk. It annoys me a little, because it disrupt me from my current view.

By the way, I can't find details defined in my system in system-settings.

I hope this feature will one day be implemented, or at least made available. I guess this is a good idea and many will find it useful.

Can you help with this problem?
