What is the device? Most devices simply act as a USB stick, so you just plug it in and transfer the files. The Creative Nomad and Zen devices, as well as the iPod series of devices are the most common exceptions to this standard, and they do whatever creative/apple decided they would do, and to heck with compatability.

There are usually ways to get to the data, but you need to tell us the make and model of the device.

On your device, you should have a parameter to set exchange protocol.
Common choice is "Mass Memory Storage (thumb drive) /Mobile Device (Windows protocol)"
Choose the first.

Yes, you are right. I just had to plug in and transfer the files. I was thinking doing this, would only create a shortcut and nothing more, but it was easier than I expected. My problem is solved. Thank you for feedback.
