What app are you using to perform the backup? What CD burning app are you using? Can you also give the output of:

lsb_release -a; echo; df -h

Thanks

You could simply format the NTFS partition to ext4 then have it mount as a storage partition to a folder in $HOME and use the space as a dumping ground for files and junk.

I am using the ubuntu's software center(File Manger Backup app)....everything works fine in it up until the very, very last.I really wish I could get it working A-OK.It seems like a great little program! I am currently using Brasero as my disc burner.

If you recall, we tried the reformatting and storage routine and ended up with the (Broken Link)that apparently can't be fix or at least declining.

Many thanks

In the simple backup suite I do not see any readily means in the destination tab to back my data up to my cd/dvd.In custom it only offers a floppy.Do I do anything special?

If you boot to liveCD you can backup anything you wish as the OS data is ni a ramdisk, not the partition you intend to backup
