Batch shrink picture size for sending email

Is there a way to shrink the size of pictures when sending an email as a batch operation when sending multiple pictures? In Windows using Outlook I could highlight pictures, click 'send to mail recipient' and Windows would ask if I wanted to shrink the sizes of the pictures I was sending. I was wondering if there was a way to duplicate this using Evolution. For example, I have 50 pictures that are 5 megabytes in size each. Windows would shrink their sizes to say 200KB and attach them to an email as a single operation. That is what I would love to do in Ubuntu.
