0) Hate updates from Ubuntu 10.10 to 11.04 (they are to much packages)(take a TOO long time to understand : what package do i need ?)

1) I never recommend upgrading releases. It takes too long and is prone to failure, especially if you're installed software from other PPA's. I recommend you install from scratch from the LiveCD or LiveUSB

2) The LiveCD or LiveUSB will _never_ write anything to the hard drive unless you run the install. If you want to install a new release and do not want to replace the grub in the MBR, do not install grub to the target drive.

3) The LiveCD never asks for a password. Something else is going on here. If in doubt download the iso again and burn a fresh CD.

1) 11.04 has now an option to change system files but not user files. So as Chris, I strongly advise to upgrade system from Ubuntu CD/DVD stick.
2) You probably erased internal disk MBR by error. To reinstall it: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Grub2#Reinstalling%20from%20LiveCD
3) Sometimes, LiveCD ask for a login. It's a rare bug. Username is "ubuntu", password is empty. Type <RETURN>.
