Regaining the main panel!

I erroneously deleted the main panel that contains all the icons and other useful links and launchers. Can anybody please help me out and show me a way to regain the original panel as it was when installed. I'm a total newbie to Linux.
Also how could I add new launchers of my choice to the panel.

Hi Ravi,

First, Welcome to Ubuntu and secondly there's no need to worry - it's all easy enough to fix!

Do you have a panel at the bottom of your screen? (Containing the trash icon on the far right, and a window list)? If you do have this, right-click where there is some space and click "New Panel".

From here, you can basically right-click on your newly create panel, click "Add to panel..." and start adding your things back in.

The default top panel contains the following things:

Menu Bar
Application Launcher (Firefox)
Application Launcher (Evolution)
Notification Area
Volume Control
Clock

You can add all/none/some as you please, feel free to customise to a way that is comfortable for you :-)

Add new launchers are done in the same way - right-click the panel, click "Add to panel..." and then click "Application Launcher" or "Custom Application Launcher".

May I add to this question please?
I also lost most, but not all, of my top panel.
Followed the directions above and created a new one, but it is below the old space.
In other words I now have two top panels, what is left of the old one, plus a new one below it .
How do I get back to just one, with all the stuff on it - instead of two partially filled panels??
