Need to find instructions

Asked by Dick Metzger

Unable to install Ubuntu Ver. 6.06 LTS from CD after 4 attempts. Rec'v. message "We're sorry the installer failed". Occurs at the "choose your location" screen. Locks up when I select Chicago for my area. Can go no further. Advised to file report at launchpad.net but unable to do so. Am installing on clean hard drive with no other operating system installed. Can anyone help? Thanks: Richard

There may be other links to click on to proceed with installation, but are not visable due to xtra large screen resolution which I cannot find a way to change to smaller print, etc.???Just pressed Enter, and nothing happened, clicked install over and over, and just get back to "choose location".

Found problem to be screen resolution. It is set at 640 X 480 by default which makes the screen size so large that areas needed to click on to install are hidden. Just by chance and experimenting I found you can right click on the install icon on the taskbar, choose "MOVE", and then move the screen to find the rest of the buttons. Really a large bummer since they do not advise the next step to perform. Finally got the system installed but screen resolution is still a problem. Found link to change it, but cannot change from factory setting of 640X480. Buttons provided will not allow any choice to reset at 800X600 or 1024X768 , or any other setting. If anyone knows if you can and how to: change the screen resolution, PLEASE ADVISE. Many Thanks: Dick

Problem solved by switching monitors. Apparently the older monitor did not allow changing resolution. When switching to a newer [ 2 yr, old monitor vs. 5 yr. old ], I was able to go in and change it.
