How to Color my folders in Ubuntu Lucid Lynx 10.04

Asked by NMALP

I was using Rainbow folders in Windows. A context menu allowing to color folder icons.
I would like to do that with my Linux folders.
Apparently someone wrote an sh file to do that "color folders' but it works only with KDE.
I ahve gnome.
Anyone know how to do that with Gnome ?
If not, can U steer me to a step by step procedure to install KDE. I need color coding bad...

Is switching to KDE a major undertaking ?
Can one go from KDE to Gnome if there is a need ?
If so does one have to reboot like a win/linux dual boot ?

THanks.

If you right click the folder and select properties you will see this window:

If you click on the folder image you can change it to ANY image you like. This is especially handy for Music collections.

Thanks Actionparnip. I know that trick but what I want is to simply color code my folders.

Then grab a set or theme with folders with different colours then set the icon to the different colour.
