unable to download anything,shows error while loading

I have tried to download,picasa or the software that came with my digital camera and it shows a window that says error while loading, and i tried loading my internet security from norton and is the same result,please help

Can you give the output of:

uname -a; lsb_release -a; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade; sudo apt-get --reinstall install nano

i'm guessing all the programs you're trying to install are for windoze. those most likely won't run on linux systems like ubuntu. however, you can try installing them via wine. i'm pretty sure norton doesn't make their software for linux, so that won't run. what norton software are you trying to install anyways? if it's antivirus, it won't work on linux systems. if you MUST have an antivirus, you can install clamav. ubuntu already has a built in firewall.
