Nautilus File Manager autostarts a number of times

Asked by jayantpd

Three months back i upgraded from Lucid (fresh install via live CD) to Maverick. Things were going well, till recent; one day i logged in and Nautilus File Manager started opening infinite times. I googled and finally not getting any solution killed all instances of Nautilus (killall nautilus), and fall back to Dolphin File Manager.

Again when i open nautilus via terminal, it says "segmentation fault", and nautilus doesn't start.

This is happening to other user accounts too on my PC. Also, desktop icons/folders are not visible on the desktop.

I browsed to this link http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1545639, which says it's because of some virus problem, however, this wasn't any expert-opinion.

In my case also, i have also used Win2-7Pack_v6.2_Multilang_Aero to make my system feel like Windows 7. I was using it on Lucid too, and hadn't faced any problem.

May i know, if there is any fix to this, or have to format and re-install the system again.

Thanks n regards,
Jayant

That wasn't *anyone's* opinion. Saiph (the original poster) mentioned a virus problem, but did not express the belief that it was the cause of this issue.

Saiph also found a solution and posted about it, in the second (and final) post in that thread. Did you try that solution?

If you need help implementing that solution, please post again.

Can you help with this problem?
