Open with other application....

Asked by Vašek

I can see one problem very often on several Ubuntu forums.

If somebody want open e.g. folder with smplayer, then must right click on folder, choose "open with other application" and then select
smplayer. But there is item "remember application for this type of file". This item is implicitly set as check. If somebody forgot uncheck it, the problem begins. The next time if want open any folder, everytime smplayer is openning. And you must set default application again for "open folder".

My question is:

How to set the item "remember application for this type of file" implicitly uncheck?

There is already the linked bug report which says fixed for Natty. Not sure if they'll backport it to other versions. It's a Gnome upstream bug and they're pretty busy to finish Gnome3.
But you may join the bug report by click on 'Does this bug affect you?' since until now only 6 users claim to be affected.

Can you help with this problem?
