Help!

Asked by Metal_Abel

Whenever i try to download something, like a Zune application or something like Google Earth, or any kind of files, applications, documents, videos , etc., it shows me the downloading screen, and says its downloading, but the green bar that shows downloads doesn't move, and when I check the desktop files, it says I never had that certain file. Like, lets say I wanted to download a video from Google for my Zune, and the Zune software so I could Sync it to my Zune player. Well, it says I'm dowloading them, like it shows the "80% complete screen", but the green bar doesn't move, and it doesn't show up in my files. Could someone please help me?

First of all, are you downloading applications manually? You shouldn't. You should let Ubuntu download and install it for you whenever possible, using the Add/Remove tool. Are you downloading with Firefox?

What are you using to download files...? Are there any network related issue...?
Check it by doing:
- before downloading a file open an Application->Accessories->Terminal session and try to ping a internet resource such as www.google.com check the response time and if there are some related problems related to your network connection while you are downloading:
ping -t www.google.com
to stop ping press ctrl+c
