how to transfer disk file from disk to hard drive

How do I move a picture file from the disk to the hard drive file?

Right click on the file, and click cut. Then go to the hard drive you want the file to end up in, right click, and hit paste. Is that what you're asking to do?

I can't seam to get it to work. I have pictures on my desktop and want to move them to a jump drive. I need to reprogram my computer and don't want to loose my pictures. I also have some on the computer to move.

Can you help with this problem?
