After finding a file, double click do not open it

Asked by Pogo

I am using ubuntu 11.04 in "classic way" (no unity)
If I look for a file from "Resources> Find a File" and after I double click on it The system don't open it because "the position is not a folder.
On the contrary if I use "Resources>Computer" and after that the function "find document or folder", double clicking on the result the file is correctly opened.
I can't understand why, and may I do something for using the double clicking also in the first case?
Thank you for your help.

Reboot, can you then give the output of:

ps -ef > ~/ps.txt; gedit ~/ps.txt; rm ~/ps.txt

Thanks

Thanks. Things have got much worse. I left my machine running while I had dinner, and came back to try your suggestion. It failed in grub with error 15: missing file. There is nowhere to go after that. I haven't worked out if the process that was running amok trashed the boot track, or if the SSD has failed.

I've resurrected my old Gateway laptop to respond, because I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but it will be a while before I get my netbook running again, if ever.

I think we can call this closed, but not solved.

Cheers;

Pogo.
