Try using Ctrl or Shift and the left mouse button.

Please explain better what you you want to see.

If I use ctrl and left mouse button nothing happens.

If I use shift and left mouse button I select multiple files in sequence.

My target is to select more file not in sequence, control and left mouse as in windows works, or command and left mous button as in mac works.

I believe this is a bug, this bug I believe is linked to compiz installation ed usage.

If I didn't understand your messages feel free to repeat :)

Do you click directly on the file or beside it?
http://library.gnome.org/users/user-guide/stable/nautilus-select.html.en
Could it be you've assigned ctrl to something else, e.g. show mouse button?
system preferences -> mouse

Also verify
system preferences -> keyboard -> layout -> options
that ctrl = default

Ok if you don't run compiz the issue is gone?
In case CCSM (compizconfig-settings-manager) is installed, it has an option to enable Gnome compatibility.
Did ctrl ever work before in selecting files? When did it stop? Did you change any configuration?
CCSM also has the ability to save profiles, any changes can be reversed to standard.

Reset compiz via CLI:
gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/compiz

Logout-in maybe needed afterwards or reboot to take effect.

Verify which keyboard layout you have.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keyboard_layout

The model in
system preferences -> keyboard
should be
„Generic 105-key (Intl) PC“

CLI:
xprop -root | grep XKB

To find out if it recognizes the correct key:
xev

focus the small window, then press ctrl

e.g. output:
KeyPress event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x4a00001,
    root 0x106, subw 0x0, time 6130629, (113,-83), root:(841,338),
    state 0x10, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XmbLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

KeyRelease event, serial 35, synthetic NO, window 0x4a00001,
    root 0x106, subw 0x0, time 6130908, (113,-83), root:(841,338),
    state 0x14, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
    XLookupString gives 0 bytes:
    XFilterEvent returns: False

## Relevant lines are: keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L)

For keycode only:
xev | grep keycode

e.g. output:
state 0x10, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,
state 0x14, keycode 37 (keysym 0xffe3, Control_L), same_screen YES,

Then you can look at
/usr/share/xmodmap/xmodmap.xy
## where xy is your country code

e.g. my ctrl keycode 37 as above is also listed in xmodmap as:
keycode 37 = Control_L

hi, this is what i got from a website, cant remember where, might help:

" i was unable to select multiple files holding Ctrl as well. (literally this time, no theme issue.) The problem was I had set ccsm>Group and Tab Windows>Selection>Key Bindings>Select to 'Ctrl+mouse1.' It's unlikely that anyone will have the exact same problem as I had, but those who are still having issues might want to go back and check their Compiz key bindings."

Can you help with this problem?
