installing web cam

im trying to install my webcam and the disk will show up on the screen but will not open

The disk you have is a windows driver. Ubuntu is not windows so it is of no use to you.

Can you give the output of:

lsusb

web cam in many cases works well in ubuntu. plug n play. if u r using ubuntu 10.04 lucid, test it using cheese webcam in applications, sound and video
