How to have DVD open up with default application

Asked by marbuntu

Hi everyone:

I am running Ubuntu 10.4 on a Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop. When I leave a DVD in my drive it shows up as an icon on my desktop, but when I click on it, it opens a window that shows the video in a folder icon. In the upper right, it has a button that reads to open "Totem Player", but I don't want that. I want to have it open to Kaffeine automatically when I click on the icon on the desktop.

I have already gone into System > Preferences > Preferred applications and under the multimedia tab I chose custom and typed "Kaffeine" in the command box. Is there any way to to have Kaffeine open up automatically when I click on the dvd icon on my desktop? Thanks.

Sincerely,

Mark

Hi Hth:

Thank you for the information. I wen to the default applications and changed all of the video settings from "Totem" to "kaffeine" but when I double click on the dvd icon on my desktop, I still receive the same file browser window that has a folder that reads "Video_TS" and in the upper right corner of the box is a button that reads "Open Movie Player". Is there a way that when I double click on the dvd icon that is on my desktop that it will automatically open Kaffeine for me? Thanks again!
