Iconizing the "Emptying Trash" Window makes it disappear

Asked by Arne Caspari

Binary package hint: nautilus

I just emptied a Trash with a large number of files and iconized the "preparing to empty the trash" ( or similar ) dialog. The window completely vanishes and there is no tab in the window list for it to bring it back.

The gvfsd-trash process does continue to run causing high CPU and IO load ( probably still collecting data about the to-be-removed items to display a process bar on a hidden window ;-) )

Do you have an indicator-applet on your panel?

Hmm, I do not know what you mean.

If you mean if there was a tray icon indicating that there is a file operation in progress, then no, there wasn't any.

There is an icon by default - it sounds like you don't have the indicator applet on your panel. I'll convert this in to a support request in the answer tracker, which is the more appropriate place for you to get help adding it back again

Can you help with this problem?

Provide an answer of your own, or ask Arne Caspari for more information if necessary.
