Sin sonido en karmic

Sé que es un tema repetido ...pero ya no sé por dónde tirar. De buenas a primeras me he quedado sin sonido en el karmic; he probado de todo, buscado por foros y googles...sin resultado. Remito el resultado del comando lspci:

Tampoco logro abrir la interfaz gráfica del alsamixer...He enchufado y desenchufado el jack varias veces, incluso cambiándolo de "agujerito", a ver si iba por ahí la cosa, y nada de nada! Tremendo silencio me embarga, pardiez!

Añado estos dos comandos por ver si son de alguna utilidad como información para resolver el problema:

 sudo alsaconf
sudo: alsaconf: command not found

$ alsactl init

clamide, has revisado la documentación de https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems ? Existen varios procedimentos para depurar problemas relacionados.
