how to install gnome-nanny

Asked by Weboh

How can I install a program (in the least nerdy way possible)?

I'm trying to install Gnome Nanny 2.29.4, but in the readme, the install process is way to nerdy for me.

Can someone explain to me very simply how to quickly and easily install a program?

I got it from here:
http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/nanny/2.29/nanny-2.29.1.sha256sum

copy the command and paste it in to a terminal and press ENTER. Copy the output and paste it here as an update

Should install it for you, same terminal and copying method, just a bigger command:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:nilarimogard/webupd8; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get -y upgrade; sudo apt-get -y install nanny

This will install the software for you

Thanks! It worked perfectly!

Now here's my next question: will this work with any program; and just change the last word to the program name?

I suggest you use software centre and search, I only added the PPA to get the latest version for you

Can you help with this problem?
