MythTV Backend Server Crashes

Asked by Paul McEnery

Running MythTV on Fiesty (default package: 0.20-svn20070122-0.0ubuntu6).

Every few hours the mythbackend process dies and I have to restart it. I understand that if I wanted to debug this with a source or subversion install, I would simply compile with debug, wait for it to crash and then backtrace the core file. If I am running the default installed package that comes with Fiesty, how do I debug the problem? Is there a debuginfo type of package that I need to install?

I have a feeling that the problem relates to EIT because this is the last message in the log:

I have found some information in /var/crash and have run the apport-unpack command on the file. I would really have liked to run apport-retrace on it. Unfortunately a core file doesnt seem to have been produced. The Vmsize of the process appears to be:

VmSize: 422956 kB

The apport default is to limit the size of a core file to 200MB. Would this be the reason that a core file was not created?
