Upgrade to Karmic Koala Breaks MySql

Asked by TulsaWeb

Upgraded via update manager to Karmic Koala from Janty Jackalope today (Jan. 5, 2010 ~ 10AM (GMT-6)) and MySql server was not installed, even though it was previously installed.

Using phpmyadmin and MySql Administrator produced this error:
Error 2002: could not connect to mysql socket in /var/etc/mysqld/mysqld.sock

Looked for mysqld.sock and the mysqld folder was missing.

Installation of MySql using Synaptic solved the problem except for two errors found in myphpadmin:

The additional features for working with linked tables have been deactivated.
Connection for controluser as defined in your configuration failed.

MySql seems to be working with my current WordPress installs, so I call the problem solved.

Just FYI,
Peace
