Why no musescore package for 19.10?

Asked by Rich Morin

The Ubuntu package page for musescore (e.g., https://packages.ubuntu.com/disco/musescore) doesn't list eoan (19.10) as an option. And, when I try to install the package, I get a nastygram (E: Package 'musescore' has no installation candidate). What's the story?

The name of the package has changed.
From Ubuntu eoan onwards it is musescore3
see https://packages.ubuntu.com/eoan/musescore3
and https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/musescore

I'm delighted to know that it hasn't gone away, but I wonder if there could be a pointer on the musescore package page.

Oops, just realized that one of the links was wrong.
It should read https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/musescore
and here you see that the name of the binary packages have changed, when you compare the details for disco and eoan.
