mupen64plus help this thing is choppy and slow

Asked by Derrick Matthews

so I downloaded mupen64plus 1.5 via the ubuntu software center and tried to play a few games and had the same problem with each one the sound is choppy and gameplay is slow can somebody tell me what is the preferred configuration and before somebody gets on specs I know it isn't the specs because every other emulator I have works fine, mame perfect, genesis perfect, gba-m perfect, pcsxr perfect(which iso's can be up to 700mb compared to lets say mario kart64 which is only a 8mb rom) plus before I made ubuntu 10.10 my only os project 64 ran flawlessly, and plus i had to mess with the sound settings with pcsxr to get it to run at it's best and the samething goes for vba-m, long story short I know it has got to be something with the sound, does anybody have any suggestions on how I configure mupen64plus correctly.

I did that's the first thing I did, but there are only 2 video plugins and only 1 sound so you can only really messing around with the settings.

Try searching a little. I found this site:
http://www.emuasylum.com/index.php?page=emulators&system=Nintendo%2064

Which has 3 sound plugins in a nice archive. If you don't search, you won't find....

the thing is those plugins were designed for project 64, all those plugins required wine to open them up, I downloaded mupen because it's linux native emulator, secondly mupen has it where you can play around with the plugin settings but has no option of adding plugins but thanks for the help though

Then grab the source and compile. I was simply showing what a little websearching can show.

The code for muppen64plus is based on the same code as the dead muppen64 so you can use the same plugins in the newer emulator.

Can you help with this problem?
