Why don't multipath-tools in Ubuntu have the libprioweightedpath.so module?

Asked by Rarylson Freitas

In the multipath-tools upstream, there is a prioritizer called weightedpath.

See: http://git.opensvc.com/?p=multipath-tools/.git;a=blob;f=libmultipath/prioritizers/weightedpath.h;h=509f21565d06d8c10a0f0a79756195a5583125d8;hb=HEAD

This prioritizer exists in some distribuction specific pre-compiled packages too, like in Debian Wheezy.

See: https://packages.debian.org/wheezy/amd64/multipath-tools/filelist

However, this prioritizer doesn't exist in any Ubuntu version, as we can see in the following links:

- http://packages.ubuntu.com/precise/amd64/multipath-tools/filelist

Since this module can be very useful, why don't the Ubuntu maintainers provide it? Is there any special reason?

The Debian package also has the iet prioritizer (file /lib/multipath/libprioiet.so). This prioritizer may be used to solve common problems too.

This module doesn't exist in any Ubuntu package too.

I suggest you report a bug. If you feel something is missing then you flagging it up may get it added.

Are the missing files in other packages? You could install them and get the files you want too.

I report these missing modules as a bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1296305

However, I don't think it's a bug. I think the Multipath Maintainers Team decided to compile this package without these modules for some reason (like because these modules aren't well tested with the Ubuntu distribution).
