Just installed Xubuntu 15.10 as the sole operating system on small notebook

Asked by Tom

Just installed Xubuntu 15.10 on small notebook. Wondering if there are any issues as this is the sole operating system. I have not been able to use the wireless, but it works well so far with cable. I have ordered a wireless usb adapter- I hope that will solve this issue. From the help program I think this is the correct solution. I am very computer illiterate! Thanks. Tom.

There are no issues with Xubuntu as the sole OS. You might have been better to install an LTS (Long Term Support) version. They last longer that ordinary issues. The last one was 14.04 and the next one will be 16.04.

It is possible that your notebook already has a wifi card. First you must discover the chipset. You do this by opening a Terminal and issuing the commands
sudo lspci |grep Network
and
sudo lsusb
Copy and paste the result here.
