lubuntu mtp probe is failing to find a usb device and install is effectively stalled
Lubuntu Live Disk install [ISO]
lubuntu mtp probe is trying to find a mtp device on my HP110-220z on buss six and has cycled up to number "125 which is not an mtp device." Is there any way to continue the install?
The process indicator [the little button thingy that spins inside] indicates the installer is still slogging on trying to find this device.
The skip button is greyed out so I presently have no way of continuing the Lubuntu install.
This is a new install on a re-partitioned hard drive with all but /home and /recovery re-partitioned and formatted. I used gparted initially and then went through the manual partition option in the Lubuntu install program.
My searches for MTP, Mpt probe and MPT probe failure on this site have retrieved no results
Is there a workaround?
This HP 110-220z was running a dual boot Windows 8 and Ubuntu 16 but slogging along on both because the dual processors are only 1.8 Ghz instead of 2.0 or greater. Ubuntu 16.14 kept graying out firefox and Lebri Office windows even with a RAM upgrade to 16 GiB.
The install program has now been stalled for over an hour and a half. The process indicator indicates it is still running, but the Terminal display has not indicated any new activity for a half hour since:
Screen: "Removing Conflicting Operating System Files."
Mar 23 22:09:29 lubuntu kernel ... usb: 6-1 disconnect, device 74
...
"Mar 23 22:27:51 lubuntu mpt probe: checking bus: 6, device: 125 "sys/devices/
"Mar 23 22:27:51 lubuntu mpt probe: bus: 6, device: 125 was not a MTP device."
When I tried to mark a line to copy a
^C showed up, but the installer has not continued to another screen.
Only option at present seems to try the restart button in the Desktop Popup window.
