prova, in un terminale (Applicazioni -> Accessori -> Terminale), a dare come comandi:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade

e vedere se così aggiorna

Non funziona ha resituito il seguente errore:

Prova a disinstallarlo e reinstallarlo:

da terminale:
sudo apt-get purge mserv mserv-cgi mserv-client mserv-dev
sudo apt-get install mserv

o da Synaptic:
Cerca "mserv"
rimuovi completamente i quattro pacchetti

In entrambi i casi, attento alle dipendenze (cioè: se non hai esplicitamente installato mserv, stai attento a non rimuovere senza accorgertene un prgramma che ti serve)

avrei un altro problema aggiornare openoffice 3:

mi da il seguente messaggio:
Impossibile scaricare tutti gli indici dell'archivio

L'archivio potrebbe non essere più disponibile o non più raggiungibile per
problemi di rete. Se disponibile, verrà utilizzata una versione vecchia
degli indici, altrimenti l'archivio verrà ignorato. Controllare la propria
connessione di rete e assicurarsi che l'indirizzo dell'archivio inserito
nelle preferenze sia corretto.

Il problema è che in questo caso il PPA che stai usando non è più valido.
Vai in Sistema -> Amministrazione -> Sorgenti Software -> Software di terze parti, elimina la riga (o le righe) relative a openoffice e sostituiscile con quelle che trovi in questa pagina:
https://launchpad.net/~openoffice-pkgs/+archive/ppa

Per futura referenza: è meglio sempre aprire una nuova domanda, se ci sono problemi diversi :) Potrebbe non essere un problema solo tuo, e qualcuno potrebbe aver bisogno della risposta :)
