detect motion in mp4 file

Asked by Michael Olschimke

I have a large number of -archived- mp4 videos from a survilence camera.
Is it possible to detect motion in these mp4 files to be able to delete those without motion?

Thank you kindly,

Michael

Not something I have done but I am aware of software that can make a software based webcam with a video file as input. You can then use the motion application to watch the video for you and extract sections / images of the source. Not sure how useful this is:

I have not tried it, but it seems to do what you are looking for: http://www.zoneminder.com

Can you help with this problem?
